AUL Sat Div 3A: RVR 6-1 Raheny Utd
The pitch was heavy up in Ridgewood today but that didn't stop the lads from knocking the ball about from the off. Two minutes in and Jonny Bidhawat tore down the right, got to the by-line and pulled it back for the big man Paul Currivan to give it the little "Cruyff flick" into the net at the near post. Chances flowed with Jimmy Reddin, Ste Leahy & Diddy Gaul all going close but it was on 20 minutes that the 2nd arrived. Jimmy played a lovely ball through to Diddy who was scythed down in the box by the last man. Up stepped Currivan who sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot to grab his brace. Raheny pulled one back from the spot right on half time.
That could’ve knocked the lads but fair play, they came straight out of the traps and within 5 minutes of the restart the 2 goal lead was restored. Ste Leahy surging into the box from the right got clobbered from behind. 3rd penalty of the game and the hat trick for that man Currivan, who went low to the keepers left. The fourth followed shortly after and this time Ste avoided the tackle to slot under the keeper from 12 yards. Changes followed with IO’C, Keith & Eric coming on and the 3 lads linked up on the edge of the box before Keith sneaked one in at the far post. The final goal came from left back. Andy Conway ventured forward, beating a man before playing a 1-2 with Keith Martin. He then beat another before sliding the ball under the keeper.
Quality performances all over the pitch. Probably our best so far this season, in difficult conditions.
