Sat Div 3A: Darndale FC 1-3 RVR
A glorious afternoon for a game of ball and the lads headed out to Darndale looking to keep their unbeaten run going. On a pitch where the grass was taller than some of the players we struggled to play our normal free flowing game but eventually on 30 minutes the ball broke to Rob Garrigan who spanked it home from 12 yards.
Half time came & went and the result never looked in doubt, even when Darndale grabbed an equaliser which looked suspiciously offside. It was probably the wake up call we needed as we slipped into 2nd gear, with Jimmy, Robbie & Ste Leahy all going close. It was Ste who grabbed our 2nd at the end of a superb move. He picked the ball up 35 yards out, beat 2 players before playing a super 1-2 with the crossbar, beating another defender in the box and rounding the keeper.
Robbie Van der Does grabbed the 3rd, again breaking into the box and beating the keeper down to his left.
That was the end of scoring. It could've been 6 or 7 but their keeper made 4 super saves.
Onto the Frank Roe Cup next week at home.
