RVR U12 got off to a great start in their formation games with a hard fought 1-0 win over a very strong Trinity/ Donaghmede side. The visitors started on the front foot and played some fast incisive football early on . As the game wore on River Valley began to come to terms with the fast pace of the game and impose themselves more. Both sides had chances in a hard fought first half which got to the break with neither defence being breeched. The second half followed a similar pattern but the valley finally made the breakthrough when Liam Gribbon latched onto a fine pass from Alex Clifton to cooly slot past the Trinity keeper. As the game neared its climax Harry Geraghtey harshly had a goal disallowed which would have eased the tension for the anxious parents on the sideline. Trinity thought they had an equaliser with the last kick of the game when the referee signalled play on as ball came back of the post with some thinking it hit the back stantion. The game was played in a very sporting manner and the players from both teams should be proud of their performances .
